As a church we support a number of people and organisations financially, both local, national and international, helping people find out about the good news that Jesus Christ brings. More details are available on our website partners and mission partners pages.
Knighton Free Church partners with a Romanian pastor and his wife, Beni and Ioana Handaric, who lead a number of Baptist churches in the vicinity of Bicaz in North East Romania, which is amongst the poorest areas in Europe.
We seek to help the churches there reach out with the good news of Jesus and help those in need. Every year we send small teams to encourage the church, help with teaching and pastoral support, and each Spring we send a bigger team to run a week of mission.
The poverty, particularly in the Romani area of Dodeni can be overwhelming, and in 2012 our church helped to set up and continues to fund a local food project, where the poorest children in Dodeni are provided a meal every week prepared by a small team of volunteers from the Bicaz church who give their time week in week out to serve in an often difficult area.
Each Christmas as a church we give half our Christmas day collection to a local charity and half to an international charity. For Christmas 2020 we are supporting Tearfund, to support their work in Yemen and Christians Against Poverty or CAP, a UK-based debt counselling charity.
Summer camp for children and young people aged between 9 and 18 (school years 4 – 13) split into 3 weeks and organised by Knighton Free Church Leicester in association with Avenue Community Church.
Set in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, Hungarton Camp has a variety of activities, including swimming, horse-riding, craft, sport, bouncy castle and games. The camp also meets together to sing, pray and learn more about Jesus and what it means to follow God today through what the Bible says.
In September the Dixon family often host a late summer barn dance in one of the barns at their farm in Hungarton. It is open to anyone at the church as well as friends, family and neighbours, and is a great evening for young and old to mix and have fun with live music and good food.
A weekend of fun fellowship as a whole church. We are returning to Quinta Hall in Shropshire next Sept 2020. It’s a great weekend where we can sing praise, enjoy seminars and a talk, as well as a host of other optional activities which could include a prayer room, walk/hike, swimming, orienteering, a bonfire etc. Please use this link to pay for your deposit and later, the remaining balance.
If you would like to donate to cover the cost of people who aren’t able to pay in full, please complete a separate transaction.
