Reflecting on stats

‘You can make statistics say what you want!’ True but they can be helpful. I’ve been looking at the 2011 Census data for Leicester and it makes interesting reading. Here are some figures that struck me.

Leicester population is 330 000, the number of students is 41 000. That’s about 12%. I guess the combined numbers of the Christian Union is about 77. Can we pray for our students, encourage them, help them?

Leicester is growing by 400 people a month, 133 of those will live in a Muslim or Hindu home. Will these newcomers to the city hear the good news of Jesus Christ? Will we tell them?

Leicester is now the biggest city in the East Midlands – and the best!

‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’
